MTV's Video Music Awards is saying goodbye to Los Angeles and hello to New York City borough Brooklyn for this year's ceremony, MTV just revealed on Instagram. The VMAs will air live from Barclays Center on Aug. 25, becoming the first major annual show to make Brooklyn its host. MTV began teasing the announcement Monday at 8 a.m. EDT in a series of photos accompanied with hashtag #RoadToTheVMAs "In announcing this year’s date and location, we wanted to create a visual story that slowly gave the show’s inherently social fanbase clues to create a conversation and stir excitement," MTV President Stephen Friedman told Mashable.
