'New York Times' Teases Website Redesign

The New York Times is redesigning its website. The publication released an animated preview Tuesday morning, teasing the site's prototype article design on tablets and desktops. Like the recent website makeovers of many a publisher, the prototype site boasts cleaner, less cluttered article pages; larger, better-integrated visuals, including images, videos and interactives; and more efficient, personalized navigation. Readers may notice a resemblance between the new article pages and the multimedia-rich story, "Snow Fall," the Times showcased late last year. The new design ensures that access to primary sections (Arts, Politics, Business, etc.) are just a click away. Readers can also add their favorite sub-sections (Music, Theater, Books, etc.) to a shortcut list, ensuring that they, too, can be accessed with a single click. The site has been responsively designed to provide a consistent experience on desktops and tablets, the Times says.
